This is a special story, many have been rebuking TV Station or Private radio station in Mauritius. But many ignore that these organisation are not just there to inform, they also have to administrate cost and pay staff.
Let us highlight you some of the cost of each institutions:

Radio Plus, Top FM and Viva Voce Ltd(Radio One)
These are the three private radio station in Mauritius. Radio Plus being the most popular and closely linked to written Press Le Defi Media Group and now audiovisuel TelePlus.
These three stations run on the Mauritian territory with a Private Commercial Free- To- Air FM broadcasting License and have an annual license fee of Rs 400, 000 payable each year to the Independent Broadcast Authority.
It is good to highlight that if ever these station get engage in TV Broadcasting (we are not talking of web video), They will have to pay an annual fee of Rs 2 Million , this fee is also applicable to MBC but will cover it later in this article.
Television Broadcasting License ("Private")
Please do not confuse yourself with private TV here. We haven't find a suitable word to better title this part of article.
We are talking and highlighting here about the expense of Satellite, Cable and Subscriptions TV provider to IBA.
- London Satellite System broadcast with a Subscription Television Rebroadcast License and an annual fee of Rs 1 Million payable to IDA
- Mc Vision Ltd(CanalSat Maurice), Mediacom Ltd(Parabole Maurice) and Vitiro Ltd (DSTV) operate with a Subscription Television Direct to Home Satellite Broadcasting Service Providers Licence and is liable to an annual fee of Rs 1 million to IBA.
- No reliable source available but we just that My.T by Mauritius Telecom operate with a Cable Television Broadcasting Services Provider Licence with Rs 1 Million payable to IBA.
- In addition, Mauritius Turf Club hold a Narrowcasting Television Licence and is liable to Rs 20,000 per Event.
Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC)
The National TV Station, MBC operates with the Public Television Broadcasting License for TV and have 2 radio license for AM and FM frequency, Public Radio Medium Wave Broadcasting License and Public Radio FM Broadcasting License respectively.
Radio
- Rs 250,000 annual fee is payable to IBA for AM frequency (if this fee is applicable per stations, then the total free of Rs 750 000 is paid by MBC : BBC, Radio Maurice and Radio Mauritius)
- Rs 400,000 annual fee is payable for FM frequency ((if this fee is applicable per station, then the total free of Rs 1.6 million is paid by MBC : Kool FM, Music FM, Taal FM and BEST FM)
- [No reliable source] For coverage of any social or cultural event on Radio - Rs 2,000 per day and for commercial event such as LIVE Programs from Shopping center, Rs 5,000 per day/events/ meeting.
Television
- As a public television broadcasting license holder, Rs 2 million leave the account of MBC to IBA each year.
- [No reliable source] For coverage of any social/cultural event on TV- Rs 10,000 per day/event/meeting and for commercial event such as LIVE programs and musical show, Rs 20, 000 per day/event/meeting.
